Yes, the rumours about my manners are true: I DID grow up in a barn! Which is undoubtedly the reason I have so
much compassion for them. I get their psychic vibes, I love their shapes, I feel for their endangered plight. My heart
strings and - from the record number of sales of my paintings - many heart strings are pulled by our remaining stone,
bank, swiss, cantilevered forebay, ancient and historic Pennsylvania barns. These historic farm buildings are built to
be all-purpose: every part is used but the squeal (farm joke). Their geometric and architectural proportions are
comforting; the materials they are made of come directly from the earth and have her warmth. With all my voluminous
education (Friends’ Central School, Sarah Lawrence College, California College of Arts and Crafts, and The
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts) supporting me I wish to portray, protect, and preserve their spirit in hopes
that in so doing I may have a small part in ensuring their continued existence. I thank you in advance for YOUR help
in this endeavour. Sherry McVickar www. BARNLADY.net P.S. I
can, and do, paint commissions! 610-430-1205.

Three Wheel Studio
Friday, June 07, 2013, Till 6:30 PM
Based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Dwo Wen Chen is the potter behind Three Wheel Studio. Born in Taiwan and educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, he uses hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques to create his beautifully formed stoneware pieces. His work features carefully hand-painted layers of intensely colored glazes. The contrast between the glazing and the natural clay background is a signature of Three Wheel Studio pottery

I find that my most recent work is at an important transition stage. I have become more drawn towards color relationships, elements of design, mark making, and the process and I hope that my confidence, energy, and passion translate into the painting.
