Our Mission
First
Friday Main Line is a
non-profit, 501C3, community
organization founded in
2006 by the area’s
business and cultural
leaders. The Mission of FFML is to bring Art to our Main Line
community by creating
opportunities to
experience Art in
everyday life.
This new
initiative intends to
revitalize our Main Line
communities of Ardmore,
Haverford and Bryn Mawr
while creating a
regional spotlight for a
diverse body of talented
Artists, Musicians, and
Performers.
About Us
It takes THREE villages to showcase arts and culture in the region, and representatives of businesses and cultural arts organizations in the three towns of Ardmore, Haverford and Bryn Mawr started working together during the summer to create FIRST FRIDAY MAIN LINE: A Main Line ARTitude - This joint partnership shaped a new initiative with the intention of revitalizing our Main Line area, and creating a regional spotlight for all of the talented artists, musicians, and performers who spring from the Main Line.
Bryn Mawr Trust Company, and its CEO Ted Peters, took the early lead and signed on as Presenting Sponsor for this exciting new venture. With Bryn Mawr Trust solidly on board, and with the participation of four key BMTC officers (Marty Phillips, Joe Smith, Beverly Cohen and Therese Trainer), this FIRST FRIDAY MAIN LINE team joined other key representatives from the three villages, and the First Friday Committee was born.
Chaired by local crafts entrepreneur Sherry Tillman, owner of Past*Present*Future crafts gallery in Ardmore, and with start-up funding from The Ardmore Business Association and The Ardmore Initiative, FIRST FRIDAY MAIN LINE: A Main Line ARTitude, was soon attracting sponsorships and support from arts organizations, civic groups, area schools, automobile dealers, individuals, art galleries, businesses, and restaurants along Lancaster Avenue from Ardmore to Bryn Mawr. Vital in-kind contributions by MAIN LINE TIMES, MAIN LINE LIFE, MAIN LINE TODAY, SIGNS BY TOMORROW and many others, moved this initiative along, and in record time created the event we so proudly place before you.
Main Line Art Center, the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, Fine Art Liaisons, King's Collar Shirtmakers, Aqua Hut Dive & Travel and MilkBoy Coffee were key players in launching FIRST FRIDAY for the western suburbs. Please note our extraordinary list of supporters, and the Committee members involved who have been tireless in their efforts to present this groundbreaking monthly event.
